About the event
The Concept:
The final chapter of the year, closing on a celebratory, festive note ahead of Christmas. A comparative tasting of the world's great botrytis-affected sweet wine styles, paired with cheese and traditional accompaniments, with a focus on revealing the distinct winemaking techniques behind each style.
The Wines A journey through the world of botrytis: Alsace (dry-style botrytis), Germany (Mosel, Nahe, Rheingau — from Spätlese to Trockenbeerenauslese), Tokaji (dry through 6 Puttonyos), Sauternes, Smaragd, and Chenin Blanc (Quarts de Chaume).
Learning Objective: Understanding how botrytis expresses itself differently across regions and traditions — and how winemaking technique shapes each style's identity, from dry botrytis wines to the most concentrated, nobly sweet expressions.
